Glee 304: Pot o’ Gold



So I take it this is the episode that the dude from The Glee Project appears. Not the quasi-winner Rachel 2.0 again, not the other quasi-winner Kurt&Mercedes 2.0, not the other actual-winner Puck 2.0 with the dreads, but the other actual-winner Finn 2.0 with the adorable accent. (I’m bad with names so I just go with character niches.) I think he’s the more popular/loved among the two winners, so hopefully this will be a wonderful welcoming of a new fresh face or something. To be fair, I only watched the finale episode of The Glee Project, so I’m basing everything I know about those kiddums from that one episode and what my friends who actually watched the whole season tell me.

Today here in the US of A, it was Columbus Day (and my school got the day off) in honor of Christopher Columbus, who sailed the ocean blue in 1492. Sure, he "discovered" the West Indies which is not actually the USA at all and yanked land out from under the feet of the natives in the name of Spain and Europe and stuff and killed off loads of the natives with diseases, but we like to give him his own holiday anyway. Just 'cause.

So in honor of the day, I decided to base my selections on whether they included the name "America" or "Chris" somewhere in there. Just 'cause.

Glee 303: Asian F



What’s this? Mike Chang gets an episode about himself? What ho! Brilliant!

I assume this means approximately five minutes of the episode will be about him, and the rest will be about Rachel and Kurt and Quinn and possibly Finn. Oh well.

.....Okay, so I missed it by like half an hour in my time zone. Whatever, it's still October 3 some places in the world!

I did more Inception Mean Girls! Finally! This is a super short scene, in honor of October 3, but it leads into the bigger scene that I'm currently working on.

Mal is Aaron, because my options were Mal, Saito, and Nash, and I like Ariadne/Mal a hell of a lot better than Saito/Ariadne or Nash/Ariadne. Also because so many of the Inception boys are girls, why not make an Inception girl a boy?

This week's theme is Madina Lake. They're a band from Chicago. I suppose they're fresh in my mind because I got their Dresden Codex EP in the mail this week, but mostly this is a random pick.

Anyway, so lots of bands make concept albums. These guys are a concept band. They're named after a fictitious town that their bassist, Matthew Leone, writes stories about, and their songs are about the goings-on in that town. Murder mysteries and missing people, it's pretty cool stuff. I saw them live during Warped Tour '09, and my friend and I agreed that they were our favorite performance of the day. They keep such a high-energy and fun set. They're great.

About a year ago, Matthew Leone helped a woman who was being beaten by a man, and in turn got beat up to the point that he had brain swelling and there were times when they weren't sure he was going to make it. I was plenty worried and terrified just as a fan; I can't even begin to imagine how it must have been for his friends and family.

But Matthew's alive and well, Madina Lake's back on tour again, and they've released a new album that I haven't gotten the chance to listen to yet. So this post will be about their first two albums and EP - which has songs that ended up on the third album, I think, so ha! My bases are covered! Mostly.

Unicorns? I love unicorns! They’re so much more fun than their cousins, the narwhals. Don’t tell the narwhals I said that. And I only say that because riding a narwhal requires an oxygen tank and resistance to water pressure, whereas riding a unicorn merely requires pure intentions. Anyway, on with the show.
